Francis Auclair (Conductor, Organ)

Born: France

The French conductor and organist, Francis Auclair, has PhD in musicology from the Université de Strasbourg. Thesis: L'interpretation des oeuvres de J.S. bach (Study of every theorical and musical texts about the interpretation of the musical works of J.S. Bach).

Francis Auclair is the founder of the Centre de recherche et d'herméneutique musicales Bach d'Alsace (Bach Center for Music Research and Hermeneutics, Alsace), specializes in the study of problems of musical interpretation (hermeneutics), focusing on the issues of 17, 18 & 19th centuries.

Francis Auclair recorded "Orgue Silbermann de Châtenois" - organ music of Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck - Samuel Scheidt - Dietrich Buxtehude - Johann Adam Reincken - Johann Pachelbel - Daquin - Stanley on Pamina (1980); "Fantaisies pour orgue" by Franz Liszt & W.A. Mozart on Pamina (1981); and 2-LP album of J.S. Bach Cantatas on Christal (1985-1986).
