Wilfried Böttcher (Conductor)

Born: August 11, 1929 - Bremen, Bremen, Germany
Died: August 22, 1994 - Vienna, Austria

The German conductor and cellist, Wilfried Karl Bernhard Böttcher [Boettcher], was Principal cellist of Hanover Opera from 1956 to 1958. He became Professor of of violoncello at the Vienna Acadademy of Music in 1958. He was founder and director of Wiener Solistenorchester from 1959 (Salzburg Festtival debut 1964). In 1965 he became Professor of of violoncello and and chamber music at Hamburg Academy. He was Conductor of Hamburger Symphoniker from 1967 to 1971. He also guest conducted several British orchsestras.
