Elenor Bowers-Jolley (Soprano)

Born: Norfolk, England

The English soprano, Elenor Bowers-Jolley, began singing at an early age and discovered a passion for performing. She studied music at Royal Holloway, University of London, The University of East Anglia, and went on to specialist vocal training at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama graduating with Distinction.

Elenor Bowers-Jolley has performed as the soprano soloist in numerous Oratorios both in the UK and abroad. Operatic roles include Adele in Strauss' Die Fledermaus, Suzanna in W.A. Mozart's Le Nozze di Figaro, Elizetta in Cimarosa's The Secret Marriage, Nanetta in Verdi's Falstaff, Belinda in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas and Zerlina in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni.

Opera chorus credits include Chabrier's L’Etoile and Georges Bizet’s Carmen at the Opera Comique in Paris under the baton of John Eliot Gardiner. Elenor Bowers-Jolley has performed as soloist for Monteverdi Choir (Director: John Eliot Gardiner) and The King's Consort (Director: Robert King) and is also a member of The Academy of Ancient Music, Tenebrae (Director: Nigel Short), Capilla Cayrasco, Metro Voices, London Voices (Director: Terry Edwards), Ex Cathedra (Director: Jeffrey Skidmore), La Nuova Musica (Director: David Bates), The Audio Network Choir, and is a founder member of the Arkell Ensemble.

Recent performances include First Spirit in W.A. Mozart's Magic Flute for Wexford Festival Opera, Rossini’s Petit Messe Solenelle for the Yehudi Menuhin School and J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) for the choir of St Georges Windsor – the Chapel Royal., Haydn’s Creation, J.S. Bach's Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas with The King's Consort, W.A. Mozart's Mass in C Minor for the Milton Keynes Chorale, Robert Schumann's Manfred and L.v. Beethoven's An die Freude with the Monteverdi Choir, George Frideric Handel's Messiah for Ristretto Choir and Orchestra in Monte Carlo and Haydn's Scena di Berenice and L.v. Beethoven's Ah! Perfido with the Prometheus Orchestra. Elenor Bowers-Jolley also completed a tour of the Canary Islands performing solo motets on behalf of Capilla Cayrasco under the direction of Eligio Luis Quinteiro. She had the honour of performing Carmina Burana in Ely Cathedral, G.F. Handel's Messiah at Snape Maltings and Janáček’s Glagolitic Mass, Felix Mendelssohn's Lobgesang and R. Schumann's Manfred with the Monteverdi Choir. She is also a tutor on the Britten International Music Course. Most recently She has particpated in F. Mendelssohn's Lobgesang with The Monteverdi Choir and the London Symphony Orchestra. Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater and Antonio Vivaldi's Gloria for the North Norfolk Chorale, a return to Monte Carlo to sing Handel’s Messiah for the Ristretto Choir and Orchestra, and three performaces of the Messiah with Orchestre Atelier Ostinato in France.

Elenor Bowers-Jolley is also co-founder of The Come and Sing Company, specialising in choral workshops and masterclasses for choirs, schools, companies and festivals.
