Hardy Brachmann (Tenor)

Born: Cottbus, Brandenburg, Germany

The German tenor, Hardy Brachmann, studied singing and piano at a special School for Music "Gotthold Ephraim Lessing" in Hoyerswerda. From 1988 he studied singing with Roman Trekel at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler" in Berlin. He 1990 he passed the soloist exam and continued his studies for two more years.

Hardy Brachmann first artistic roles: Evangelist in Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248) and the tenor part in Magnificat (BWV 243) by J.S. Bach, the tenor part in the Schubert Mass and the role Don Polidoro in Mozart's La finta simplice (premiere at the Schauspielhaus Berlin). There were followed by Husar in Mavra by Igor Stravinsky and Katchkarjov in Die Heirat (The Marriage) by Martinu.

In addition to live concert and appearance at important theaters, Hardy Brachmann participated in 1994 in radio recordings. The same year he had also one-year engagement at the Theater Neustrelitz, including roles as Pedrillo in Die Entführung aus dem Serail by Mozart and Steuermanns in Der fliegende Holländer by R. Wagner. In 1996 he made a concert tour to Russia with the Prague Philharmonic Orchestra, and in 1997 CD-production and the performance of Stabat Mater by Dvorak, and other concert appearances in Germany.

since 1995 Hardy Brachmann is a permanent ensemble member of the Staatstheater Cottbus. Major roles there include: Willi in The Rise and Fall of the City of Mahagonny by Brecht, Graf Boni in Die Csárdáasfürstin by Kálmán, Kilian/3. Jäger in Der Freischütz by Weber, Gaston in La Traviata by Verdi, Malcolm in Macbeth by Verdi, Merkur in Orpheus in der Unterwelt by Offenbach, Basilio in Le Nozze di Figaro by Mozart, Action in West Side Story by Leonard Bernstein, Jaquino in Fidelio by L.v. Beethoven, Tschekalinski in Pique Dame by Tchaikovsky, Iwan in Der Zarewitsch by Lehár, First Philistine in Samson & Dalila by Camille Saint-Saëns, Remendado in Carmen by Georges Bizet, Tenor in Die Riemannoper by Johnson, Harald Stone in Die Blume von Hawaii by Abraham. At the Staatsoperette Dresden he appeared as Graf Villalobos in Das Spitzentuch der Königin.
