Victor Bunin (Piano)

Born: March 2, 1936 - Voroniezh, Russia

The Russian pianist and musifc pedagogue, Victor Bunin, received first musical from his father, famous composer Vladimir Vasilievich Bunin. After graduation from Musical College of the Tchaikovsky Conservatory under the instruction of Olga Feodorovna Mukhortova,then Mirra Yakovlevna Sever, he studied at the Moscow Tchaikovsky Conservatory under professor Samuel Feinberg (1956-1962), and then took up a post-graduate course with professor Victor Merzhanov. In 1961,Victor Bunin appeared in All-Russian piano competition and won the First prize.

Victor Bunin’s agenda is well-packed with recitals and tours round Russia and abroad. He has made regular appearanses with Russian orchestras including the USSR State Symphony Orchestra, Moscow Philharmonic Symphony Orchestra and Great Symphony Radio and TV Orchestra, conducted by K. Ivanov, B. Khaikin, Eduard Serov, A. Dmitriev, V. Dudarova, G. Tcherkassov, V. Sinaisky, R. Satanovsky, V. Mizka, E. Khachaturian, L. Shulman and others. His extensive and diverse repertoire includes traditional Western classic works in addition to the late 19th and 20th centure composers works Tchaikovsky, Taneev, Anton Rubinstein, Sergei Rachmaninov, Scriabin, Medtner, Alexandrov, Samuel Feinberg, Prokofiev, Vladlmir Bunin - the pianist's father - Golubev, Razorenov, Rekhin.

In 2002 Victor Bunin and Julia Amada Kruger, an american pianist, united to form a duo/duet team and now they are in constant demand both in the USA, Russia and Europe. In the summer of 2008-The Bunin/Kruger duo team were invited to be the Performing Guest professors at a new yearly student International Performance Festival held in Cepina / Bormio, Italy.

Victor Bunin has recorded vinil and compact disks with many recording companies, among them: Melodiya, Russian Disk, RCD, EMI, Classical Records. He also participated in three films shot by All-Union Central TV and appeared in several TV concert programmes.

Since 1963 Victor Bunin has been teaching piano performance techniques at the Tchaikovsky Conservatory, the Central Music School and the Academic Musical College both under Moscow Conservarory. From 1993 to 2003 he also taught at the Syrian National Conservatory and the Lebanese National Superior Conservatory in Beyrouth. Many of his students became prize-winners of different international piano contests. Professor Bunin held master-classes in Russia,USA and many European and Arabian countries. He holds also yearly Master Class at the Lebanese National Superior Conservatory in Beyrouth.He participated in the jury in several piano competitions in Russia and Europe.

Victor Bunin is the author of two books dedicated to the great Russian pianist,composer and teacher Samuel Feinberg: S.E.Feinberg,his life and work, Pedagogics of S.E.Feinberg, both published by Musica publishing house in 1999 and 2000. He has also written a number of articles on dealing with musical performance techniques that were published in different music magazines.

Victor Bunin is the Honoured Member of The International Association 'Scalcottas-Feinberg" in Paris. In Russia he was awarded the tittle "Honoured Artist of the Russian Federation".
