Hans van Dijk (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor, Hans van Dijk, completed his vocal studies at the Conservatorium of Rotterdam, with Carolyn Watkinson. He continued his studies with Meinard Kraak in Utrecht and is now coached by Paula de Wit in Amsterdam. With René Jacobs, he took classes in Baroque singing. followed by master-classes with Sarah Walker, Hans Peter Blochwitz, Philippe Huttenlocher, Robert Holl, Udo Reinemann and Nicolai Gedda.

Hans van Dijk has gained experience by working with renowned conductors such as Daan Admiraal, Jos van Veldhoven, Iván Fischer and René Jacobs. His repertoire ranges from Baroque to the present. He also appears as a soloist in concerts of the Nederlandse Bachvereniging, both in the Netherlands and Norway, Germany and France.

Hans van Dijk made ​​his opera debut in Monteverdi's Orfeo in the Early Music Festival in Cologne, in a production conducted by Hermann Max. This led to an invitation to appear in Iphegenie and Aulide in Stuttgart conducted by Frieder Bernius, with whom he has also sung Mozart's Requiem. He is now invited for concerts in Frankfurt, Darmstadt and Hannover, with J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), Cantatas, and works by George Frideric Handel and Felix Mendelssohn.

In December, Hans van Dijk was heard in the role of Il Conto in the opera La Finta Giardiniera by W.A. Mozart. He also performed with the Noord Hollands Philharmonisch Orkest a programme with various opera arias and sang the role of Barinkay in Strauss' Gypsy Baron. He also sang the role of Paris in Offenbach's comic opera La belle Hélène, Peter Iwanowin Lortzing's Zar und Zimmermann, and Lyonel in Martha by Flotow. He gave a recital with pianist Calvin Bowman and Australian String Quartet at the Music Festival in Melbourne, Australia with works by Benjamin Britten and Ralph Vaughan Williams. In the context of Rotterdam Cultural Capital of Europe, he gave concerts of music by Rotterdam composers, in collaboration with pianist Ardjoena Soerjadi.

Hans van Dijk sang the title role of Monteverdi's Orfeo with the Amsterdams Bach Consort, including in Hoorn and Amsterdam, as well as in Purcell's Dido and Aeneas at the Festival op het IJ in Amsterdam. With pianist Jacomijn Puite he sang a version of Schubert's Winterreise in collaboration with visual artist Anne Lamfers. With the trio Il Il Vento in Poppa (Elly van Munster on theorbo and Dana Massad on recorder) he performes programmes with 16th and 17th century chamber music, including at the Festival of Flanders. For NCRV he made a recording of works by Dutch composers Daan Manneken and Van Tienen. For KRO he collaborated on a recording of works by Louis Spohr. The concerts in collaboration with the Nederlandse Bachvereniging incorporated by the EO.

Hans van Dijk is a freelance as a chorister linked to the Koor van Nederlandse Opera in Amsterdam.
