Jörg Erler (Boy Soprano, Tenor)

Born: 1963 - Kassel, Germany

The German boy soprano and tenor, Jörg Erler, began to sing with the Knabenchor Hannover when he was 10 years old. He was involved with others as a boy soprano in the project of recording the complete J.S. Bach works under Gustav Leonhardt. From 1988 to 1993 he studied singing at the Musikhochschule Hannover.

Jörg Erler was was engaged afterwards, among other things, at the Brandenburger Theater as lyric tenor in the roles Tamino in Zauberflöte, Fenton (Merry Wives of Windsor) and Count Almaviva (Il Barbier di Sevilla). In the role of the Tamino he participated also in 1993 in a CD production in Deutschlandsender Kultur in Berlin. In 1998-1999 he made guest appearance at the Opera House of Dortmund in Dr. Ox`s Experiment by Gavin Bryars.

Beside concert activities in his homeland and abroad, Jörg Erler serves since the beginning of 2000 as a lecturer of singing at the Musikhochschule Hannover.
