Fausto Fungaroli (Conductor)

Born: June 9, 1972 - Calabritto, Avellino, Italy

The Italian Conductor, Fausto Fungaroli, began at the age of 12 years to study clarinet with his father. At the age of 15, he moved to the “Domenico Cimarosa” in Avellino, where he studied clarinet (1987-1994; M° Pietro Nunziata with final diploma), as well as composition and conductor of orchestra’s with wind instruments (1994-2002; Teachers: Giacomo Vitale and Paolo Ciacci). As a conductor he initiated numerous concerts with the conservatory’s Orchestra Avellino. From 2000 to 2004 he studied orchestral conducting at the conservatory San Pietro a Majella in Naples with M° Francesco Vizioli (with final diploma). In the year 2003 he concluded the Vienna Conducting Masterclasses with Professor Salvador Mas Conde, with a final concert in the Vienna Conservatory Hall. Fungaroli has been from 2003 to 2006 regular participants in the Conducting-Course Bachwoche Stuttgart under the direction of Professor Helmuth Rilling and Professor Masaaki Suzuki. The successful participation in the above-mentioned master-classes 2004 was followed by an invitation as the only scholar in that year for the assistance of Professor Helmuth Rilling at the European Music Festival in Stuttgart/Germany (August 2004). From 2005 to 2006 he was Conductor-Scholarship at the Academy of Music and Theatre in Hamburg, Germany, where he attended the classes of Professor Christof Prick.

From 2008 to 2010, Fausto Fungaroli was assistant of Christoph von Dohnányi, the principal conductor of the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg. From September 2006 to July 2010 he was Musical Director, Chief Conductor of the Eppendorf Symphony Orchestra Hamburg Germany. With large success he directed the New Year concert 2007 at the Teatro San Carlo of Napoli. In 2010-2011 he was Project-Assistant of Maestro Michael Gielen with the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg. He was already established in thE Hamburg media: Thus interviews appeared in different newspapers and radio, as well in the NDR Hamburg Journal. In the context of the NDR "the new work": on February 19, 2011 he had a concert with the NDR Sinfonieorchester Hamburg.

Since July 2009 Fausto Fungaroli is the new Chief Conductor of the Landesjugendorchester Hamburg (Hamburg's State Youth Orchestra). In July 2011 with large success as Guest Conductor, he had a Concert Tournee with the “Josc” Joven Orquesta Sinfónica de Castellón.(Spain). Since October 2011 he is Musical Director, Chief Conductor of the Orchestra of the University of Lübeck.
