Manuel Gerber (Tenor)

Born: 1975 - Switzerland

The Swiss tenor, Manuel Gerber, received Primary teacher's certificate in Biel/Bienne 1995; and Teaching Diploma for oboe with Patrick Marguerat in La Chaux-de-Fonds in 2000. He studied Baroque oboe with Carole Wiesmann in Basel (2006-2010). He also studied Musicology at the University of Bern (1998-2001). He studied singing with Ulrich Gilgen, Irene Friedli and Fernande Chiocchio; choral conducting with Josef Zaugg, Jürg Jakob and Bernhard Scheidegger; orchestral conducting with Patrick Lehman and Dominique Roggen.

Manuel Gerber performs regularly as a tenor singer ans as an oboist . hae can express his love of the Baroque repertoire on the instrument as well as with his voice. He is a musician with a wide range of interests, and he cdxan be find with the tuba in a big band with a saxophone or a Balkan fanfare. He sings in the Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz) since its foundation in 2006.

Musical highlights: oboist in the Baroque orchestra Le Moment Baroque; singer in the Ensemble vocal Orlando, directed by Laurent Gendre; conductor for choral and orchestral projects (e.g. with the jazz singer Elina Duni); oboist and saxophonist in jazz ensemble Le Grand Eustache
