Franz Gerihsen (Bass)

Born: Germany

The German bass, Franz Gerihsen, received his singing training at the music at the Musikhochschule Köln with Professors Joseph Metternich and Hans Müller-Heuser. He was a winner of several competitions, including 1st Prize at the Bundesgesangswettbewerb (federal singing competition) Berlin.

Franz Gerihsen was frequently guest in important music centers such as Paris, Berlin, Munich, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Turin, and Tel Aviv. He co-operated with conductors as Sergiu Celibidache and Helmuth Rilling.

Franz Gerihsen made numerous broadcast recordings, in addition to LP recordings with works of C. Monteverdi, J.S. Bach, and George Frideric Handel.
