Helsinki Cathedral Orchestra (Orchestra)

Founded: 1973 - Helsinki, Finland

The Helsinki Cathedral Orchestra (Helsingin Katedraaliorkesteri) was founded alongside the Helsinki Cathedral Choir in 1973. The Orchestra consisted of 15 stringed instruments, and was complemented with other instruments as necessary. In practice the Cathedral Orchestra was complemented by musicians from the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra. The Helsinki Cathedral Choir and Cathedral Orchestra formed a unit, although the Orchestra also gave its own concerts.
