Pascal Herington (Tenor)

Born: Australia

The Australian tenor, Pascal Herington [Herrington], is currently (2012) studying the Advanced Diploma of Opera at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of Maree Ryan. He has a strong background in choral singing undertaken in choirs such as the Sydney Children's Choir, Gondwana Voices, The Australian Voices and the Tapiola Children's Choir, Finland. Between 1998 and 2000, he performed with Opera Australia as a principal artist in the roles of Shepherd Boy in Tannhäuser; Cabin Boy in Billy Budd; Amor in l'Incoronazione di Poppea; Yniold in Pelléas et Mélisande. His performance in Pelléas et Mélisande was also recorded live and broadcast on ABC Classic FM. He also performed at the Opening and Closing Ceremonies for the Olympic Games and as a soloist in the 2003 Rugby World Cup.

Credits as a tenor soloist include W.A. Mozart's Coronation Mass (KV317), at Christ Church St Lawrence; Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Magnificat, with the Sydney Conservatorium Chamber Choir, broadcast on ABC Classic FM, both under the direction of Dr. Neil McEwan; W.A. Mozart's Requiem (KV626); J.S. Bach's Cantata Gott fähret auf mit Jauchzen (BWV 43) with the Grazer Domkantorei, Austria; J.S. Bach's Cantata Ein' Feste Burg (BWV 80) with the Sydney Conservatorium Early Music Ensemble, under Dr. Neal Peres Da Costa, and the Royal College of Music, London, Early Music Ensemble; Abraham in Benjamin Britten's Canticle II: Abraham and Isaac; Haydn's Nelson Mass; Benjamin Britten's Choral Dances (from Gloriana); Rossini's La Petite Messe Sollenelle; George Frideric Handel's Messiah in the Sydney Town Hall; Charpentier's Messe de Minuit; L.v. Beethoven's Symphony No. 9; Orff's Carmina Burana; Diabelli's Pastoral Mass; G.F. Handel's Saul; and workshopping the role of Aeneas from Purcell's Dido and Aeneas with members of the Guildhall School of Music, London.

Pascal Herington has also performed in the Conservatorium of Music, Sydney, productions of Die Lustigen Weiber von Windsor; in the role of Comus in King Arthur; as a trio member in Leonard Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti; and the role of Il Podesta in W.A. Mozart's La Finta Giardiniera. Pascal has also performed in an Australian Premiere of Philip Glass' In the Penal Colony in the role of the Visitor. Most recently, he performed as El Remendado in Sydney Philharmonia and ChorusOz's stage production of Georges Bizet's Carmen. In 2012, he performed with the Marais Project and Pinchgut Opera Company.
