Matthias Hoffmann-Borggrefe (Choral Conductor, Organ)

Born: Brandenburg Sauerland, Germany

The German choral conductor, organist and church musician, Matthias Hoffmann-Borggrefe, received his first piano lessons at age 5; and subsequently he also studied trombone and viola. He studied church music in Düsseldorf and trombone and the professional conducting, and graduated in 1991 with honors.

From 1989 to 2002 Matthias Hoffmann-Borggrefe was a church musician with the Evangelischen Matthäi-Kirchengemeinde Düsseldorf. Since 2002, he is Kantor and organist at the Evangelisch Lutherischen Hauptkirche St. Nikolai in Hamburg.

With the Kantorei St. Nikolai and the Hamburg Camerata Matthias Hoffmann-Borggrefe has successfully presented comprehensive and versatile church music programmes, including choral concerts, oratorios concerts, orchestral concerts, chamber music concerts, organ recitals, lectures / readings - in which he continues to set thematic and church year-dependent areas.
