The Kammerchor Mannheim (= KCM) was founded in 1976 by KMD Hermann Schäffer and is resident at the Christuskirche Mannheim. The KCM consists of trained singers from the whole Rhein-Neckar area, who participate in continuous and extensive work of rehearsals and performances. Emphasis of the KCM repertoire are works from the a-cappella-literature, in particular those the 20th Century (Francis Poulenc, Martin, Leonard Bernstein, Duke Ellington, etc.). In addition the KCM performs numerous cantatas and oratorios, including Monteverdi's Marienvesper, Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and the Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach, Petite Messe Solennelle by Rossini, as well as contemporary oratorios of Oskar Gottlieb Blarr, Messiaen, Leonard Bernstein and others. Since 1999 the KCM is led and strengthened by KMD Johannes-Matthias Michel, since that time in co-operation with historical instruments. |
