Lászlo Kálmán (Tenor)

Born: 1975 - Budapest, Hungary

The Hungarian tenor, Lászlo Kálmán, studied music education and choral conducting at the Ferenc Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest, graduating in 2001. Since 2002 he studied singing with Éva Lax. He was a choir member and soloist of the Purcell Choir (Purcell Kórusnak) founded and directed by György Vashegyi. In 2002 he became a member of the Male Soldiers Choir (Honvéd Férfikar).

As a soloist Lászlo Kálmán has performed a number of Baroque and classical works. His repertoire includes mainly Masses of Haydn and W.A. Mozart and Bach Cantatas. He has performed as a soloist a number of major works such as J.S. Bachís Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and has repeatedly featured as Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion (BWV 245). In the summer of 2006 he sang the title role in Michael Haydnís oratorio Der büβende Sünder under the baton of György Vashegyi.
