Vocalensemble Kassel (Choir)

Founded: 1964 - Kassel, Hessen, Germany

The Vocalensemble Kassel (Kassel Vocal Ensemble) was founded in 1965 by Klaus Martin Ziegler, with the aim of creating a vocal group that would be able to perform not only the traditional repertoire in an exemplary manner, but also the special requirements of contemporary compositions.

The direction of the choir was from 1994 given to Hans Darmstadt and is since September 2006 in the hands of Eckhard Manz. The focus of the work is and remains the new music, always in a lively confrontation with the tradition of the beginnings of western polyphonic music to the present day.

The ensemble consists of about 30 singers who have partially completed a music degree, but at least bring the singing lessons vocal requirements for participation in such a group.
