Kepler Konsort (Vocal Ensemble)

Founded: 1993 - Linz, Austria

The vocal ensemble Kepler Konsort (KEPLER-KONSort) was was founded in 1993 and is directed by Andreas Lebeda. The ensemble appears repeatedly in the series "Musica Sacra" in Linz, but also at the Vienna Konzerthaus, Salzburger Residenz, Int. Brucknerfest Linz, Osterfestival Brünn and Wr. Festwochen. The ensemble's repertoire includes music from the Middle Ages to the present, and so many forms as chamber operas (such as Purcell's Dido and Aeneas), Masses, oratorios to vocal chamber music of Haydn, Salieri, W.A. Mozart, Satie and Huber. Two CD's were produced in cooperation with the renowned Baroque ensemble Ars Antiqua Austria and the St. Florianer Sängerknaben (including J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 182 Himmelskönig, sei willkommen). An artistic highlight was the performance of Auferstehungshistorie by Heinrich Schütz with Kurt Widmer as an Evangelist. In addition to the intensive study of early music projects, contemporary music mediates an exciting access between historical performance practice and musical presence - so 2005 was about the first performance of a cappella piece Miserere by Rudolf Jungwirth on the program, followed in 2006 by the world-premiere recording Ernst Krenek polyphonic Volksliedbearbeitungen (folk songs). Romantic ensemble music has in recent years been developed into a repertoire focus of the Kepler Konsort: After Robert Schumann's Der Rose Pilgerfahrt and Johannes Brahms' Liebeslieder Waltzes, the ensemble is dedicated with great enthusiasm to the vocal chamber music of Franz Schubert
