Felix Koch (Cello, Conductor)

Born: Germany

The German cellist, conductor and music pedagogue, Felix Koch, cello and orchestra music at the Hochschule für Musik Mannheim (1991-1996); cello and orchestra music at Hochschule für Musik Karlsruhe (1996-1998); Baroque cello and historical performance practice at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main (1999-2003); music education at the Goethe-Universität Frankfurt (2000-2004). He is a laureate of numerous competitions and scholarship from renowned funding institutions (including the Kulturpreis der Stadt Saarbrücken, Musikpreis des BDI, Telemannpreis Magdeburg)

As a soloist and chamber musician, Felix Koch was u.a. with his ensembles Mediolanum and Neumeyer Consort in addition to radio and CD productions at major European festivals and music centers (including Schleswig Holstein-Musik Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, Telemann-Festtage Magdeburg, Resonanzen Wien, Luzern-Festival, Berliner Philharmonie), as well as to Yaroslavl (Russia), Brussels, Turin, Milan and New York.

Felix Koch is Artistic Director of the Kaisersaalkonzerte of the Forum Alte Musik Frankfurt am Main. He became a lecturer in historical performance practice on courses and the like. to the Musikhochschule Mannheim, Musikhochschule Saarbrücken and the Schleswig Holstein Musik- Festival Orchester, as well as conductor of the Rheinischen Philharmonie Koblenz and Kurpfälzischen Kammerorchester Mannheim.

In 2004, Felix Koch took on a teaching assignment for music education / concert education at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main and in 2008 the project management of Primacanta - Jedem Kind seine Stimme (Primacanta - Every child his voice). Since the winter semester 2010-2011, he teaches as Professor of Early Music / Baroque Cello and Concert Pedagogy / Music Education at the Hochschule für Musik Mainz and in 2012 was appointed Director of the Collegium musicum der Johannes Guternberg Universitätä Mainz. In July 2015, he also took over the position of Vice Rector of the Hochschule für Musik Mainz.
