Jeanette Köhn (Soprano)

Born: 24 February 1968 - Sweden

The Swedish soprano and vocal coach, Jeanette Rosie Köhn, graduated from the Royal College of Music in Stockholm . She also studied with Geoffrey Parsons in London and Warren Jones of New York.

Jeanette Köhn is one of Sweden's most versatile sopranos. She has been an established concert- and oratorio- singer for a long time with engagements all over the world, to mention but a few: Santiago-(Chile), Bari-, Kuopio-, Bayerischer Rundfunk Symphonieorchester, Munich, the Anhaltische Philharmonie, Dessau, West Deutsche Rundfunk, Stuttgarter Philharmoniker as well as the Swedish Radio Symphony Orchestra and the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra. In 2001 she gave a recital in Lincoln Center, New York, with music of Heitor Villa-Loboss.Christmas 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012 she participated in Nils Landgrens highly coveted and successful tour "Christmas with my friends" in Sweden and Germany.

Jeanette Köhn was soloist at the Royal Wedding between H.R.H. Crown Princess Victoria and Mr Daniel Westling the 19th of June in the cathedral, Storkyrkan in Stockholm. Hymn - K. Rehnquist, soprano together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra and the Chamber Choir of Gustaf Sjökvist.

With the production ”New eyes on Baroque” the group participated in the annual Bachfest Leipzig 2007. A big openair concert wich got a wonderful welcome from both the audince and the arranger. The uniqueness in this hugely successful production has led to two reccordings and furthermore invitations. Among them the Summerfestival in Wiesbaden, Scloss Elmau, Niedersachsen Musiktagen. Collaboration with Chor der Brahmsakademie, Lübeck and a collaboration with the Swedish Radio Choir.

In the spring of 2007 Jeanette Köhn took part in the Bachfest Leipzig. In autumn 2008 she participated together with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra in a CD-production which H.M. King Carl XVI Gustaf's composite in form of a concert and a CD-recording. In the summer of 2007 she produced and performed together with two other opera singers, Miriam Treichl and Katija Dragojevic a unique and original show,"Vildvuxet" at the Rosendal Gardens to rapturous audiences. Because of the great success they had a new review the summer of 2008 at the roof-terrass of the Stockholm House of Culture. In the summer of 2007 and 2008 she participated in the performance "War and Peace with Monteverdi" at Confidencen, the oldest Rococo theatre in Sweden. In February 2008 a newly written "St. Marc Passion" was released on CD. The review from Dagens Nyheter: "Here is Jeanette Köhn's voice absolutely brilliant in power and beauty". (DN February 26, 2008). During autumn 2008 and spring 2009 she participated in the performance "Laterna Magica", a music and multi-media production based on the music Ingmar Bergman used in his films. The production successfully toured in Sweden and later opened the "Music Gardens" Festival of summer 2009 in Warsaw. During autumn 2008 she participated in the big live-aid Christmas-concert in Globen, Stockholm, together with 3000 singers in the choir. A Gala which were broadcast for TV, radio and was released on a CD. In March 2009 she participated in the annual Kurt Weill-Festival in Dessau, Germany, together with Nils Landgren and the Anhaltische Philharmonie. A success!

In December 2012 Jeanette Köhn was the only soloist with WDR Sinfonieorchester Köln and WDR Rundfunkchor Köln. A celestial Christmas Concert . December 2012 for German TV. In 2012 and 2013 she has been invited to the Stuttgarter Philharmoniker. She was awarded the "Golden Mask" for her interpretation of Roxanne at the Oscars Theatre in Stockholm. Her interpretation of Fiordiligi in W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte was received with high critical acclaim, as were her roles in W.A. Mozart's Il Re Pastore, Die Zauberflöte and Euridice at the Drottningholm Court Theatre. She was highly praised for her participation in Povel Ramels (a well known Swedish artist) revues; "Knäppigen" and "Kolla Klotet", as well as her contributions in the musicals: Cyrano, Les Misèrables and A Little Nightmusic. The tour in Germany for 2014 is already almost sold out. The 4th CD was released in 2014, the three previously have sold gold and platina.

Jeanette Köhn has appeared as soloist in as many as 40 recordings where three were solo albums; including the prized "Arkipelag" (Archipelago) which was inundated with overwhelming reviews. ”Jeanette Köhn and Swedish Radiochoir, New eyes on Baroque". Is released in Sweden and Germany 2013. (Act /Naxos). All fantastic reviews. They are now on the 5th position on the sellinglist of classical music in Sweden. She has made numerous appearances on television and radio at prestigous and auspicious events such as the Nobel Prize Banquet, the funeral of Astrid Lindgren, the opening of Parliament, Anna Linds memorial sevice, the Tsunami victim`s Commemoration service, as well as King Carl XVI Gustav`s sixtieth birthday celebrations in the Rikssalen. (All were broadcast "live" by SVT, Swedish Television.)

Jeanette Köhn has been the recipient of several prestigious Swedish prizes. Besides the "Golden Mask" she has been honoured with the Jenny Lind and Kristina Nilsson Prize from the Royal Swedish Academy of Music. In 2004 she was bestowed with the Stockholm City-Hall Culture Prize.
