Leichlinger Kantorei (Choir)

Founded: 1967 - Leichlingen, Germany

The Leichlinger Kantorei is an institution of the Evangelischen Kirchengemeinde Leichlingen. It was founded in 1967, when the presbytery of the main official body established church music. The idea was of an integrated community choir, in which all the physical aspects of a church parish organisation are summarised and which in the following years was purposefully achieved. The purpose of such work is that it is not focused just on a special area (e.g. chorus or child labour), but the individual elements of a complete Kantorei are treated equally. Thus, since the early music of the children, the musical education of young people (including individual lessons on musical instruments), the young players are maintained in the same way as the regular service in the church and of course of the physical heritage of sacred music by highly qualified choral work.

Figuralchor

The choir currently consists of about 80 members. In addition to participation in worship, the choir makes at least two major choral concerts. The major oratorio works are performed, as well as smaller choral works, to a-cappella literature. In addition to weekly rehearsals, an important emphasis on the voice preparation. It is also possible, during the choir rehearsals to take individual lessons with an experienced singing teacher.
