The Japanes-born pianist, Remi Masunaga, was taught upon her arrival in France by Jacques Rouvier in Marseille, then Theodore Paraskivesco and Laurent Cabasso at the Paris Conservatoire of Music and Dance (CNSMDP). She is holder of a Diplôme de Formation Supérieure with Prizes in Piano, Chamber Music and Harmony. She has also followed lessons with, among others, György Sándor, Wladimir Krajnew, Ramzi Yassa. She has received awards in several prestigious international competitions : Messiaen in Paris, Mozart in Salzbourg, Maria Canals in Barcelona etc.
Following her studies, Remi Masunaga is now performing regularly in France and abroad as a soloist and as a chamber musician. she is the guest of many music festivals in Europe and in Japan. She has taken part in projects bringing together artists from different horizons, in an attempt to connect artistic fields with different requirements. Thus she has commissionned a work from videast Jean-Yves Cousseau, based on Le Courlis Cendré by Messiaen. The live performance allows for a triple interaction between the score, the video film and the musician.
During an exhibition of works from Aurélie Thiolat, Remi Masunaga gave a concert with a selection of works from Debussy and Messiaen, establishing a real dialogue with the visual artist’s aesthetic vision. Finally, for her Anduze recital concert, she chose to have poems from the Gaspard de la nuit collection by Aloysius Bertrand read before each movement of the eponymous work by Ravel: Poetry and Music could thus juxtapose their open-ended universes.
Remi Masunaga has played on TV channels such as France 3, Mezzo or RTVE, the spanish TV channel. Since 2002, she has released several recordings of works by Gasper Cassado and Claude Debussy in particular, as well as an educational CD “Petits Câlins avec Mozart”.
