Tobias Mäthger (Tenor)

Born: December 14, 1977 - Bautzen, Saxony, Germany

The German tenor, Tobias Mäthger, studied singing (Matthias Weichert; Lied KS Olaf Bär), conducting (Hans-Christoph Rademann) and music education in Dresden.

Tobias Mäthger works as a freelance singer, conductor, teacher and church musician. He has already achieved considerable success with a varied concert career both nationally and internationally. He is a member and soloist with the Dresdner Kammerchor and longtime assistant to Professor Hans-Christoph Rademann, as well as a member of the soloists’ ensemble of the Musik Podium Stuttgart under Frieder Bernius. In addition, he regularly works with leading artists and ensembles including Marc Minkowski, Rafael Frubeck de Burgos, Peter Schreier, Ludger Rémy, E. Klemm, Hermann Max, Matthias Goerne, Dresdner Staatskapelle, Dresdner Philharmonie, Kölner Kammerorchester, Bremer Kammerphilharmonie, Dresdner Kreuzchor, Rheinische Kantorei, Dresdner Singakademie, and many others, as a soloist or as a conductor’s assistant. He is also a member of Kammerchor Stuttgart (Director: Frieder Bernius), Gächinger Kantorei Stuttgart (Directors: Helmuth Rilling & Hans-Christoph Rademann), and Chor der J.S. Bach-Stiftung St. Gallen (Director: Rudolf Lutz).

A special commitment is especially true of the new edition and performance rediscovered old masters as well as the of contemporary music. Tobias Mäthger has been involved in recent years in numerous premieres as a soloist and conductor.

Tobias Mäthger's is documented by audio recordings work on CD productions by various labels (Carus, CPO, Raumklang) and broadcasters (Deutschlandfunk, Deutschlandradio Kultur, MDR, SWR, WDR, SR). Currently, he is actively involved in the Heinrich Schütz - Gesamtaufnahme in close collaboration with Hans-Christoph Rademann, the Dresdner Kammerchor and the Carus-Verlag.
