Katsuya Matsubara (Violin, Conductor, Arranger)

Born: 1963 - Tokyo, Japan

The Japanese violinist, conductor and arranger, Katsuya Matsubara, studied at the Tokyo University of the Arts in Taito-ku, Tokyo. He won the first prize for Ataka while an undergraduate at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music. His second prize was the best place of Kreislar International Competition.

Katsuya Matsubara was the concert master of the New Japan Philharmonic Orchestra from 1989 to 1999. He does many recitals from an age of J.S. Bach to modern composers. He improvises and plays with Jazz musician. He is appraised a high position. He plays as a soloist at every place in Japan. The awards that he won were the Nakajima Kenzo music prize and prize of Agency for Cultural Affairs. At present, he is Associate Professor at Tokyo National University of Fine Arts and Music.
