The chamber choir Opus Vocale combines solo vocal art with powerful charisma homogeneous ensemble singing. In Opus Vocale there are trained soloists and choral singers from all over Germany, who meet periodically for the series of concerts in various German cities.
Opus Vocale was founded by Volker Hedtfeld in 2002. Meanwhile, the choir's repertoire includes a variety of works from almost all eras of music Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina to Penderecki - the polyphonic choral music of the Renaissance and the Baroque to the Romantic choral music to the music of the 20th Century. Opus Vocale performs also contemporary music. The motet Des Vaters ewig's Wort by Dresden composer Carsten Borkowski was premiered by the choir. In addition, they created a CD recording of the "Missa Orbis Factor (XI)" by the Tübingen composer Jan Janca.
Opus Vocale is dedicated especially the a-cappella music, but also performs regularly the great Baroque oratorios. Here, the choir worked with orchestras such as the young ensemble Callinus, but also with traditional ensembles such as the Karl Forster-Chor Berlin - and can also be heard on numerous film festivals. The second CD recording of Opus Vocale, “Missa Papae Marcelli - Weihnachtliche Chormusik Alter Meister / Christmas Choral Music by Old Masters”, was released in September 2011 on Rondeau. |
