Claudia Patacca (Soprano)

Born: 1965 – The Netherlands

The Dutch soprano, Claudia (Caterina) Patacca, studied at the Conservatorium Hogeschool Enschede with Anne Haenen and continued her UM-studies the same school. She won the Tubantia Prize. At the moment she studies with Meinard Kraak. She has participated in master-classes with Mikael Eliasen, Marlena Malas, Cristina Deutekom and Edith Mathis.

Claudia Patacca has given concerts in Belgium, Germany, Poland and France in various festivals. Claudia made her opera debut as Belinda in Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas. She performs vocal parts on the opera podium as well as in concerts.

Claudia Patacca's recent activities include debut at the De Nederlandse Opera and Konzert Theater De Munt in Brussels in Wagner’s Parsifal under the baton of Simon Rattle, Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest and Antonio Pappano, Symfonieorkest van De Munt, Rosalinde in Die Fledermaus (Strauss) with Hoofdstad Operette, W.A. Mozart's Requiem at the Paleis voor Schone Kunsten in Brussels, Boccherini's Stabat Mater and Cherubini's Chant sur la mort d'Haydn with the Radio Kamerorkest under the baton of Ton Koopman in De Doelen Rotterdam in the same work with AVRO, Mendelssohn’s Paulus with the Essener Domsingknaben and a concert-tour with the Hoofdstad Operette (including the Frühlingsstimmenwalzer).

Claudia Patacca's repertoire includes roles as Rosalinde in Strauss’s Die Fledermaus, Gräfin in W.A. Mozart’s Le Nozze di Figaro, Pamina in W.A. Mozart’s Zauberflöte, Silberklang in W.A. Mozart’s Der Schauspieldirector, Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel and Euridice in Gluck’s Orfeo ed Euridice.

In the Amsterdam Concertgebouw Claudia Patacca sang in Chausson’s Le Roi Arthus (Holland Festival) under the baton of Edo de Waart, was the guest in the Matinee op de Vrije Zaterdag as Princess Azema, Semiramide (Rossini) under the baton of Ion Marin and Stem uit de Hemel, Don Carlos (Verdi) under the baton of Carlo Rizzi . Mademoiselle Silberklang, Der Schauspieldirector Claudia sang with the Nederlands Kamerorkest under the baton of Ivor Bolton. With Opera Zuid she sang the role of Princess Ninetta in The Love for Three Oranges (Prokofiev).

On the concert podium Claudia Patacca has sung as soloist in oratorio, concert and Lieder repertoire and participated in the great vocal works of the repertoire, such as J.S. Bach’s Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Johannes-Passion (BWV 245), Mass in B minor (BWV 232), Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248), George Frideric Handel’s Messiah, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung and Die Jahreszeiten, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, W.A. Mozart’s Requiem, Francis Poulenc's Gloria, Felix Mendelssohn's Paulus and Elijah, Orff’s Carmina Burana, Masses by W.A. Mozart and J.S. Bach Cantatas. With the pianist Marien van Nieukerken she gives Lieder recitals.

On CD Claudia Patacca can be heard in Orff’s Carmina Burana conducted by Willem Wilmink, La Clemenza di Tito (Vitellia), Il Sogno di Scipione (Costanza), Ascanio in Alba (Venus) and Il Re Pastore (Tamiri) by W.A. W.A. Mozart under the baton of Jed Wentz. She is working now on a solo CD and a CD with Helios Ensemble of works by Ludwig Otten.

Other engagements included Zandman and Dauwman in E. Humperdinck’s Hänsel und Gretel with Radio Filharmonisch Orkest for the TROS, Miroir de Peine by H. Andriessen, Johannes-Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach in Essen and Gelsenkirchen, Mass in B minor (BWV 232) by J.S. Bach with Combattimento Consort Amsterdam.
