Matti Juhani Piipponen (Tenor)

Born: 1937 - Helsinki, Finland

The Finnish tenor, Matti Juhani Piipponen, studied at the Sibelius Academy in Helsinki.

After finishing his stidies, Matti Juhani Piipponen became an opera singer and performed at the Opera House of Savonlinna in many productions i.e. Ratsumies by the Finnish composer Aulis Sallinen, etc. Then he performed for 22 years in Europe totally in 49 opera houses, in many of them several times. He also sang many times the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Passions.

Matti Juhani Piipponen returned to Finland leaving active roles. He lives in Helsinki in good condition and was married to Salme Mattila in 2000.
