Rita De Plancke (Contralto)

Born: Brussels, Belgium

The Belgian contralto, Rita De Plancke, studied at the Koninklijk Muziekconservatorium Brussel and Sweelinck Conservatorium of Amsterdam. She folllwed with courses of interpretation with Susanne Anders at the Mozarteum of Salzburg, with Alfred Deller, Dorothy Dorow and Julia Hamari at the Bach-Akademie of Stuttgart. In 1982 she obtained the Higher Diploma of singing.

Rita De Plancke has appeared regularly in concerts, especially in Belgium, such as at Festival van Vlaanderen, but also in Holland, Germany, France and Spain. She took part in several recordings for the BRT and the RTBF. She was invited twice to the International Bamboo Organ Festival of Manila in the Philippines. She is also Professor for singing at the Lemmensinstituut de Leuven.
