André Post (Tenor)

Born: The Netherlands

The Dutch tenor, André Post, was encouraged to enter the singing profession by Charlotte Margiono; he studied at the Koninklijk Conservatorium in The Hague and at the International Opera Studio in the Netherlands. He now studies with Margreet Honig.

André Post has emerged in the last few years as one of Europe’s most exciting lyric tenors. His career highlights since he started his career 4 years ago include: title role Tamerlano with the Utrechts Barok Consort under Jos van Veldhoven, Ruiz in Il Trovatore at the Concergebouw in Amsterdam, Thibault in Les Vêpres Siciliennes and Don José La Tragédie de Carmen under the direction of Pierre Audi, Vogelgesang in Der Schauspieldirektor at the opening concert of the Amsterdam Cultural Season 1999-2000 with the Nederlands Kamer Orkest under Philippe Entremont, Lehrbube in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg at the Nederlandse Opera, Rêves d’un Marco Polo (Vivier) for the Holland Festival 2001, Abdallo in Nabucco in Rotterdam, title role Faust and Nemorino in L’Elisir d’Amore in Heerlen. His repertoire also includes Male Chorus in Benjamin Britten's The Rape of Lucretia.

In the field of oratorio, André Post has sung the Die Matthäuspassion (BWV 244) with the Münchener Motettenchor under Siemens, with the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra under Hans-Christoph Rademann and with the Limburgs Symphonie Orkest under Ed Spanjaard, Robert Schumann's Requiem with the Residentie Orkest under Jaap van Zweden, J.S. Bach’s Jagdkantate (BWV 208) with the Combattimento Consort Amsterdam. His repertoire also includes: Die Jahreszeiten, Die Schöpfung, the Missa di Gloria, the Petite Messe Solennelle, the Verdi Requiem and Gustav Mahler's Das Lied von der Erde.

Recent engagements: Ruiz in Il Trovatore at the Bregenzer Festspiele, Rodolfo in La Bohème and Tamino in Die Zauberflöte for Opera Zuid, Siminov in Wet Snow (Jan van de Putte) for the Reisopera, concerts with the Netherlands Philharmonic, a VARA matinée concert with the Netherlands Radio Choir, a recording of the title role La Clemenza di Tito under Jed Wentz, Flaminio in L’amore de tre re for the VARA matinée in the Concertgebouw, First Prisoner in Fidelio at the Nederlandse Opera, Eisslinger in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg in Essen.

Current season/future plans: Pang in Turandot, Guillot in Manon and Missail Boris Godounov for the Reisopera, Ruiz in Il Trovatore at the Bregenzer Festspiele, Rodolfo for Zomeropera, Tremati empi, tremate for NPS Zate.
