Marie Pouchelon (Contralto)

Born: France

The French contralto, Marie Pouchelon, wasatrained in the Maîtrise de Radio France, graduating in 2001. She continued her studies in faculty of musicology at the Conservatoire, where she obtained her DEM (Musical Studies Diploma) in 2006.

Meanwhile, Marie Pouchelon worked with various ensembles such as Les Voix Mêlées (Director: Vincent Rouques), Les Cris de Paris (Director: Geoffroy Jourdain) or in smaller formations like the Israeli ensemble Nevel David.

In 2005, Marie Pouchelon turned to early music by studying with Julie Hassler and joined the Ensemble Pygmalion (Director: Raphaël Pichon) with whom she made several recordings. In 2006, she participated in the opera Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell at the Opéra de Rennes (conducted by S. D'Hérin) and the following year in the opera Cadmus & Hermione by J.B. Lully (staged by V. Dumestre and B. Lazar).

Marie Pouchelon regularly performs with other ensembles such as the Maîtrise de Notre-Dame (Director: Lionel Sow), Correspondances (Director: Sébastien Daucé), Ensemble Perspectives (Director: Geoffroy Heurard) or Diabolus in Musica (Director: Antoine Guerber) with whom she has recorded a disc of music in a tribute to Ockeghem.
