Joseph Regan (Tenor)

Born: Palmer, near Bosdton Massachusetts, USA

The American tenor and voice teacher, Joseph Regan, received his Bachelor and Master of Music degrees from the Peabody Institute of the Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. In 2015, he 2graduated from University of Maryland.

In addition to his work with the Countertop Ensemble, Joseph Regan is a successful voice teacher and singer based in the Mid-Atlantic region who has performed all over the Eastern Seaboard. . He has studied and performed roles from some of the great works of Western Music. He can be seen on the opera stage where he has performed the roles of Fenton in Verdi’s Falstaff, Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Magic Flute, Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte, Jenik in Smetana’s Bartered Bride and many more. He is also an accomplished performer of musical theatre. He has performed Henrik in Sondheim’s A Little Night Music, Nicely-Nicely Johnson in oesser’s Guys and Dolls, and Kaspar in Menotti’s Amahl and the Night Visitors, among many others and has performed a number of cabaret and recital programs dedicated to the style.

In addition to his work in opera and musical theatre, Joseph Regan is a well known for his work in the field of oratorio. He has sung George Frideric Handel, Haydn, Felix Mendelssohn, W.A. Mozart, and is particularly notable for his expertise singing J.S. Bach. He has performed the St. John Passion (BWV 245) solos on multiple occasions and has performed more than a dozen of J.S. Bach’s Cantatas. He enjoys performing on the recital stage both alone, and with his wife, Melanie. In addition to his work as a soloist, he is also a highly sought after ensemble singer and has spent the last five years singing with the Men’s Choir at the Washington National Cathedral, and other well respected choral ensembles in the Washington/Baltimore area.

In addition to his performance work, Joseph Regan is on faculty at Shepherd University and Mount St. Mary’s University where he teaches voice, coaches staged works, and directs a men’s choir. Since 2012, he is Voice Teacher at University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). He currently lives in Hagerstown, Maryland.
