Andrea Reuter (Soprano)

Born: Hamburg, Germany

The German soprano, Andrea Reuter, has had a broad musical education. In addition to studying solo singing with Judith Beckmann and opera at the Hamburg Conservatory, she studied and obtained diplomas for music teaching and violin. She won prizes at singing contests in Germany and during her studies performed with the choir of the Northern German Radio (NDR).

In 1992, Andrea Reuter started opera singing with the Frankfurt Chamber Opera (1992-1998 as a member), and performed with them in major roles in L'occasione fa il ladro and L’Italiana in Algeri by Rossini, Viva la mamma and La Figlia del Reggimento by Donizetti and Poor Gents by Sedelnikow. Guest performances followed, such as at the Moselle Festival 2000-2001.

Andrea Reuter participated in a master-course by Elisabeth Schwarzkopf in 1992 and was advised by her, and was selected to perform for Yehudi Menuhin’s Live music now concerts in Munich. In 2004 she was advised by the soprano Edith Wiens and participaded in her master course during the Wiener Meisterkurse 2004.

The oratorio is the center of her concert activities. Significant examples are participation at the 1200 Years Festivities of the City of Frankfurt in 1994, with the re-performance of Brockes Passion by Georg Philipp Telemann, or in International Music Events in the Speyer Cathedral with Paulus by Felix Mendelssohn, The Creation by Joseph Haydn, Gloria by Francis Poulenc). She undertook concerto travels abroad, performing with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra since 1999 (St. Mathew Passion (BWV 244), Mass in B minor (BWV 232) and the Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) by J.S. Bach, F. Mendelssohn’s Elias, Haydn’s Creation). Andrea Reuter has taken part in international festivals such as the first three "Festival Internazionale di Musica e Arte Sacra con i Wiener Philharmoniker" 2002-2004 in Rom and Loreto to interpretate Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms in Corporation with Wiener Singverein and St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Exsultate, jubilate, C-moll Mass, Krönungsmesse and Vesperae solennes de confessore by Mozart and CD-, radio- and television-recordings were produced since 1997, among others with the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra.

Andrea Reuter also concentrates on song and Lieder literature. At university, she analyzed the song works of Olivier Messiaen and regularily performs in recitals accompanied by chamber orchestras. A song recital for children with Yehudi Menuhin's Live music now was broadcast by the Bavarian Television. In the summer of 2001, she was invited to Italy to give her first masterclass and perform in song recitals.

In 2003 appeared her first song CD "Via lucis" (italian label Phoenix Classics) with Eichendorff-Liederkreis by Robert Schumann, Hermits Songs by Samuel Barber and Chants de Terre et de Ciel by Olivier Messiaen. This program was performed with various international artists of painting and sculptures as a concert in exposition. In 2004 appeared songs for organo by Sigfrid Karg-Elert / Aeolus and in 2005 arias from cantatas by J.S. Bach / Phoenix Classics with the Ensemble ARTIS.
