David Riniker (Cello, Arranger)

Born: 1970 - Basle (Basel), Switzerland

The Swiss sellist, David Riniker, studied at first with Jean Paul Guéneux, and later in the concert classes of António Menèses in Basel. He completed his skills in master-classes with Arto Noras, Boris Pergamenschikov, Wolfgang Boettcher, and David Geringas. He has also been the recipient of numerous distinctions both at home and abroad, for example at the "4e Tournoi Eurovision des Jeunes Musiciens", or at the European Youth Prize in Varna (Bulgaria).

Riniker has been member of the Berliner Philharmoniker since 1995. Along with his orchestral duties, he is an active chamber-music player with his colleagues of the Berliner Philharmoniker, including the 12 Cellisten der Berliner Philharmoniker and a duo with violinist Christoph Streuli.
