Earl Rogers (Tenor)

Born: USA

The American tenor, Earl Rogers, served as President of the New York Singing Teachers’ Association (NYSTA) from 1960 to 1962. He sang in the premieres of A Guide to the Life Expectancy of a Rose, Scene for soprano, tenor, flute, violin, cello, clarinet and harp (1956) by Vivian Fine on May 15, 1956 at Rothschild Foundation, New York City; and Chamber Cantata on Chinese Poems, for tenor, flute, clarinet/clarinet bass, viola, cello, harpsichord or piano (1954) by Ezra Sims in 1959 at Donnell Library in New York City.

Among his recordings: Trouble in Tahiti by Leonard Bernstein with MGM Orchestra conducted by. Arthur Winograd (MGM; reissued by Polydor); Camelot by Lerner & Loewe with the Sunset Singers & the Al Goodman Orchestra conducted by Al Goodman (Ambassador Records, 1960’s); Haydn & Mozart Songs with the pianist Emilia Mitrani (Allegro Records, 1950’s); German Song from the minnesingers to the 17th century with the guitarist Rey de la Torre (Allegro Records, 1950’s); in 1949 he sang and narrated a children's record for Allegro Junior Records. It was an "unbreakable" 10-inch 78 RPM disc called "The Shmoo Sings," which featured six songs about cartoonist Al Capp's lovable character, accompanied by a "Shmoo Band.".
