Karin Dahlberg (Soprano)

Born: Sweden

The Swedish soprano, Karin Dahlberg (formerly Roman), is a graduate of Musikhögskolan in Göteborg (Gothenburg) where she studied with Professor Dorothy Irving and the GöteborgsOperans where she studied with Marianne Schell.

Karin Roman is today a sought-after soloist in oratorios, opera and operetta roles. Her repertoire ranges from early Baroque to romantic and contemporary music. She made her acclaimed debut at the European Music Festival in Stuttgart in 2005 as a soloist in cantatas by J.S. Bach, and in Sven-David Sandström's Magnificat (premiere performance), together with the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble. 2006 season ended with two high-profile concerts: Haydn's Creation with the Malmö SymfoniOrkester and George Frideric Handel's Messiah with the Göteborgs Symfoniker. 2007 season included solo concerts, J.S. Bach and G.F. Handel, with the Drottningholm Baroque Ensemble, touring with J.S. Bach's B minor Mass (BWV 232) with Hedvig Eleonora Kammarkör, G.F. Handel's Messiah in Bergen, Haydn's Creation at Uppsala domkyrka and Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem in Västerås and Stockholm. 2008-2009 season included her debut in Verdi's Requiem at the Norrlandsoperan, as well as in Dvořák Requiem at the Copenhagen Cathedral. In the autumn she appeared with the Helsingborgs Symfoniorkester under the baton of Andrew Manze.

- Helsingborgs Dagblad, November 14, 2006
