Rolf Romei (Tenor)

Born: Switzerland

The Swiss tenor, Rolf Romei, studied at the High School of Music Winterthur with Paul Steiner and in Karlsruhe with in Aldo Baldin and Jean Caux. In 1997 he was awarded the 2nd prize at the Mozart Competition of UNESCO at the Fenice Theater in Venice. He received the 1st prize for best tenor at the Competition Schweizer Kulturpreis in 1999 in Berne.

Since then, Rolf Romei was engaged at several opera houses, the Stadttheater St. Gallen and the Théâtre of Augsburg, among others. Apart from singing opera, he also gave many recitals in Switzerland, Rome, Lisbon and St Petersburg. His repertoire ranges from classical to contemporary, Stabat Mater by Dvorák or Credo Penderecki. He recorded the Mass in C by Mozart for Radio Suisse Romande with Michel Corboz.
