Florian Rosskopp (Bass-Baritone)

Born: 1976 - Idar-Oberstein, Germany

The German bass-baritone, Florian Rosskopp, studied music at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität in Mainz, specialising in the subjects of piano, singing and violoncello. Since 2002-2003, he studies for diploma in singing with Professor Thomas Dewald, at the Johannes Gutenberg Universität Mainz.

In 2002-2003, Florian Rosskopp participated in co-production of the Fachbereichs Musik Mainz and the Staatstheater Mainz in a theatre production of the Kleinen Zauberflöte by W.A. Mozart as a priest/slave. In 2003-2004: in a performance with the concert hall workshop of the Fachbereichs Musik Mainz he performed the main male role of Charlot in Jaques Ibert's opera Angelique.

In summer 2002 Florian Rosskopp participated in master-classes for singing and Lieder accompaniment with Professor Ulf Bästlein (singing) and Professor Charles Spencer (Lieder accompaniment). In 2003 he took further master-classes with O. Brown and C. Reid. Since summer 2004 he is a member in the Jungen Ensemble of the Staatstheater Mainz. In 2004 he took master-classes for singing and Lieder accompaniment with Ruth Ziesak (soprano), Professor R. Piernay (bass) and Ulrich Eisenlohr (piano).

Starting from the 2004-2005 season, Florian Rosskopp is a member in the Jungen Ensemble of the Staatstheaters Mainz and performs there the role of the Colas in opera production Bastien und Bastienne or Utopie der Reinheit after W.A. Mozart and Jean-Jacques Rousseau. In addition he has participated in numerous performances of sacred and secular oratorio works.
