Summit Hill Brass Quintet (Brass Quintet)

Founded: 1976 - Minnesota, USA

he Summit Hill Brass Quintet (= SHBQ) was founded in 1976 and is comprised of current and former teachers, and freelance musicians. They frequently perform in the Minneapolis-Saint Paul area and some members also perform with additional ensembles including the Minnesota Opera Orchestra, the Minneapolis Pops Orchestra, the Brass Messengers and the North Shore Brass Quintet.

They have 10 recordings to date featuring a wide variety of repertoire, all arranged for the quintet by founder David Baldwin.

The quintet visited 5 different elementary schools around the metro (Aquila Elementary, Saint Louis Park; Vadnais Heights Elementary, Vadnais Heights; Otter Lake Elementary, White Bear Lake; Carver Elementary, Maplewood; Edgerton Elementary, Maplewood) in March 2013. The repertoire performed included that of Thomas Morley, J.S. Bach, W.A. Mozart and the American Civil War.
