Johan-René Schmidt (Baritone)

Born: 1961 - Denmark

The Danish baritone, Johan-René Schmidt, studied at the Royal Danish Music Academy since 1979. He placed among the finalists in the International Lied-Competition in connection with the Wiener Festwoche 1982. He received the Aksel Schiøts prize of honour for Lied-interpretation in 1983. He has appeared in several radio broadcasts, lied and oratorio concerts. In his first album "Songs by Maurice Ravel, Manuel de Falla, Camille Saint-Saëns" (Rondo Grammofon, 1983), he shows his great ability to express French and Spanish music as well.
