Claudia Schmitz (Contralto, Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Germany

The German contralto/mezzo-soprano, Claudia Schmitz, studied at Tübingen University, Georgetown University, and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.

Claudia Schmitz was a member of the Bach Collegium Japan (Director: Masaaki Suzuki) from 1995 to 1997, and particpated in their concert tours in Japan and abroad and recordings. Later she was a member of the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln. Since 1990 she works at the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs. From 2007 to 2010, she was Head of the Economic Department (Deputy Chief of Mission) at the German Embassy in Seoul, Korea. In 2010, she was appointed Head of Division of Protocol at the Foreign Office in Berlin.
