Alexander Schneider (Counter-tenor)

Born: Frankenberg, Saxony, Germany

The German counter-tenor, Alexander Schneider, received his first musical training in the Dresdner Kreuzchor, to which he belonged from 1987 to 1996. Since October 1997 he studies at the Hochschule für Musik "Hanns Eisler", Berlin with Peter Hermann.

Alexander Schneider has worked together with the Dresdner Kammerchor, Sächsischen Vocalensemble, Ensemble "Alte Musik Dresden" and Lautten Compagney Berlin, as well as with The Bach Ensemble USA, under the direction of Joshua Rifkin. In addition he has participated with various broadcast and CD productions (such as Heinrich SchützSchwanengesang and Alt-Leipziger Musik). He appears also as an interpreter of recitals of varied repertoire. He gave his much-appreciated considered opera debut at the Neuköllner Oper Berlin, in Johann Adolf Hasse’s Comedia per Musica La sorella amante.
