Kim Scown (Tenor)

Born: May 13, 1951 - Garberville, California, USA

The American tenor, Kim Scown, studied Voice/Opera Vocal Pedagogy at New England Conservatory. He was Fellow at Tanglewood, and studied voice there in 1975, 1976, 1977.

Kim Scown has worked as classical singer and teacher in New York. He has appeared in opera houses worldwide. In April 1976 he sang the role of Reverend Rowlandson in Paul Earls’ opera The Death of King Philip with the New England Chamber Opera Group Philip Morehead at All Saints Church, Brookline. In November 1978 he sang Maurice Ravel’s L'heure espagnoleg with the Concord Orchestra under Richard Pittman..In summer 2006 he sang Arnold Schoenberg’s Gurrelieder with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under James Levine. He has also performed several times with the Boston Symphony Orchestra under Seiji Ozawa.

Kim Skown sang role of Second Attendant in John Harbison's opera Full Moon in March with Boston Musica Viva conducted by Richard Pittman (CRI, March 1979). He also recorded: A. Schoenberg's Gurrelieder with the Boston Symphony Orchestra conducted by Seiji Ozawa (Philips, 1979).

In addition to singing, Kim Scown has worked as Independent Alternative Medicine Professional in New York. Since 1980 he is Sixth Degree practitioner of The Radiance Technique®, Authentic Reiki® (The registered service mark is held by TRTIA and not by Kim personally. This mark is used with permission. at Self employed). He currently lives in Pittsfield, Massachusetts.
