Sherri Seiden (Soprano)

Born: 1981 - Marietta, Georgia, USA

The American soprano, Sherri Seiden, Seiden earned her Bachelor of Music degree from the Boston Conservatory and went on to study at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London. She also studied with Professor Rudolf Knoll at the Mozarteum in Salzburg. She completed a post-graduate program with the University of Toronto’s Opera Division. She was a first place winner of the Regional Metropolitan Opera Competition and a National Grand Finalist..

Sherri Seiden made her debut as Rosina in Rossini's Il Barbiere di Siviglia with Florida's Treasure Coast Opera in March 2005. She then produced and performed solo concerts throughout the summer in Atlanta, Georgia. In the fall of 2005, Ms. Seiden debuted with the Chattanooga Symphony and Opera in a new production as Amor in Gluck's Orfeo. In addition, she performed a series of holiday concerts with both the Greenville Symphony Orchestra and the Fort Wayne Philharmonic with Edvard Tchivzhel, conductor.

Sherri Seiden's dazzling performances show that she is equally at home in concert, opera and musical theater. Her busy schedule during the past year (2007) has included her Carnegie Hall debut as soprano soloist both in the Johannes Brahms and John Rutter Requiems with John Rutter, conductor. She also sang with the Liaoning Symphony in Shenyang, China, with Peter McCoppin conducting. In Atlanta, she took on the role of Stella in Street Car Named Desire with Capitol City Opera, as well as singing the Bach Cantatas BWV 51 and BWV 84 with New Trinity Baroque. Traveling to Ontario, Canada, she appeared on stage New Year's Day, 2007, as soprano soloist with Attila Glatz Concerts. This Spring (2007), she was soloist with the Elysium Chamber Orchestra in Atlanta, singing Mozart's Requiem, and in the summer (2008) she recorded a CD with the Bratislava Symphony, Peter McCoppin, conducting. Her plans for Fall (2008) include a debut in Jake Heggies' Statue of Venus, with Capitol City Opera.

During her career, Sherri Seiden has had the privilege to perform solo at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall; she was featured as the soprano soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah at the Wang Center in Boston, and sang with the Toronto Festival Orchestra such excerpts as Queen of the Night from The Magic Flute, and Adele in Die Fledermaus. She has also performed the role of Christine in the European Tour of The Phantom of the Opera, and was in the long running production of Beauty and the Beast at the Schubert Theater in Los Angeles, also appearing in the internationally-aired Disney Spectacular commercial for that show. She performed in an Evening of Rogers & Hammerstein with the Hamilton Symphony Orchestra in Ontario, Canada, directed by Boris Brott.
