The German soprano, Ulrike Sonntag, completed her voice studies in Roumania and Berlin. She worked in interpretation classes with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau, Aribert Reimann and Elisabeth Schwarzkopf and received several scholarships. The soprano won 1st prizes in the Mozartfest competition in Würzburg 1983 and in the Deutscher Musikwettbewerb in Bonn in 1985.
In 1983, she made her opera debut at the Hamburg State Opera. Since 1991, she has been a member of the ensemble of the Vienna State Opera. Ulrike Sonntag gave guest performances at nearly all opera houses of the world. Besides that, her accomplishments include an extensive concert activity, to which numerous radio, television and disc recordings bear witness. Ulrike Sonntag has made herself a name as an interpreter of songs, too. |
