St. Petersburg Camerata
St. Petersburg Hermitage Orchestra (Chamber Orchestra)

Founded: February 1994 - St. Petersburg, Russia

On February 14, 1994 St.Petersburg Camerata orchestra was given by unique status as the State Hermitage Orchestra - orchestra of the one of the first-rate museums in the world.

Young collective, who was created by well-known conductor Saulius Sondeckis in 1989 as St.Petersburg Conservatoire Orchestra, has become one of the best Russian chamber collectives. Saulius Sondeckis, founder of the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, has created one more collective, uniting grand conductor's experience, his refined musical style, creative boldness, ability for experiment as well as high professional level, respect for best traditions of orchestral performance.

Orchestra has toured at 15 countries of the world. It has recorded a lot of CD’s, including Sony classical label, and has performed with such musicians are Yehudi Menuhin, Mstislav Rostropovich, Victor Tretiakov, Sergei Stadler, and Nicolai Gedda.
