The Russian pianist, Sophie Svirsky, studied at the Imperial Conservatory with Annette Esipov. She was awarded her diploma with the same brilliant distinction as her classmate, Serge Prokofiev. This came years after study and concertizing in Paris as a child, when her gifts became ovrious. She returned there in 1924 to study under Lazare Levy, and has remained as a teacher and concert artist specializing in the works of J. Haydn, J.S. Bach, and the other Baroque and Classical masters. |
