Alessio Tosi (Tenor)

Born: Quistello, Italy

The Italian tenor, Alessio Tosi, studied at Liceo Classico Alessandro Manzoni (1996) and at The University of Texas at Austin (2003). He completed his studies in solo singing and vocal chamber music at the Conservatorio di Musica “Lucio Campiani” in Mantua (2012). He perfected his singing repertoire with such renowned masters as Charles Spencer, Irwin Gage, Dalton Baldwin, Helge Dorsch, Ulrich Eisenlohr, Wes Moore and Ulf Bästlein. He was winner or finalist of many prestigious singing competitions, including Festival Internazionale della Romanza da Salotto in Conegliano, Concorso Internazionale di Canto Barocco “F. Provenzale” in Naples, Concurso Internacional de Canto Tenor “Francesc Viñas” in Barcelona, Concorso Internazionale di Canto “Giulio Neri” in Torrita di Siena and Liedkunst im Schloss vor Husum (Germany).

Alessio Tosi eagerly appears with a Baroque repertoire, collaborating with conductors and ensembles specialising in the music, including Claudio Cavina and La Venexiana, Marcello Di Lisa and Concerto de’ Cavalieri, Václav Luks and Collegium 1704, Leonardo García-Alarcón and Choeur de Chambre de Namur as well as Cappella Mediterranea. He has appeared on the most prestigious international stages and at chamber and Baroque music festivals, including Concertgebouw in Amsterdam, Cité de la Musique in Paris, Dias de Música in Lisbon, Stresa Festival, MITO SettembreMusica, Ravenna Festival, Styriarte Festival in Graz, Festival de Musique Baroque in Lyon, AMUZ Festival van Vlaanderen in Antwerp, Misteria Paschalia in Krakow and Enescu Festival in Bucharest.

His latest appearances included concerts in Barcelona and Paris with La Capella Reial de Catalunya, directed by Jordi Savall, appearances in Monteverdi’s L’incoronazione di Poppea (in the role of Nurse) during the Japan tour with La Venexiana and Claudio Cavina, as well as Stradella’s San Giovanni Crisostomo with Claudio Astronio. Since 2011, Alessio Tosi has been conducting Baroque singing courses at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in Rome.

Alessio Tosi has recorded for Philips, Deutsche Harmonia Mundi, Tactus, Glossa, Velut Moon, Brilliant Classics (the newest album – Steffani: Vocal Chamber Duets, 2015), as well as for Radio Rai 3, ORF 1, BBC, NDF and Radio France. H currently lives in Pietole, Italy.
