Jean Vallières (Guitar, Arranger)

Born: 1952 - Sainte-Foy, Quebec, Canada

The Canadian guitarist, Jean Vallières, studied at the Conservatoire de Musique de Quebec with Martin Prével and Paul-Andre Gagnon. Fellow of the Government of Quebec and the Canada Council, he perfected his playing with Alexandre Lagoya at the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique de Paris and obtained in 1977, a First Prize from unanimously jury.

Jean Vallières gives many concerts as a soloist, chamber musician or with orchestra. He has been heard regularly on the Culture Channel of Radio-Canada. He recorded a few years ago, for SNE label, a disc of French music for guitar and he has just released under the same label, a disc devoted entirely to the music of J.S. Bach.

Jean Vallières holds the class guitar at the Conservatory of Music in Montreal, and teaches during the summer at the Academy of Music and Dance Domaine Forget.
