Justus von Websky (Conductor)

Born: May 14, 1932 (?) - Germany

The German conductor, Justus von Websky, recived his musical training at the National Conservatory of Bavaria.

Justus von Websky worked at the theaters of Würzburg and Nuremberg and directed for many years the Frankfurt Radio Chorus (Choir of Broadcast of Hesse). In 1965 he created the Ensemble vocal et instrumental Bach de Paris, a student choir accompanied by an orchestra composed of the best instrumentalists, one of the best in France. With this ensemble, he became a specialist in the performance of J.S. Bach’s works. In 1972 he became director of Chœur Montjoie, and perormed with them the large oratorio choral works. He conducted the the Orchestra of ORTF in Lille, the WDR Orchestra in Germany, the orchestras of Colonne and Lamoureux and taught at the European Conservatory of Paris. With his musical experiences in both countries, he created in 1982 in Val d'Isere « jeune Philharmonie franco-allemande »(Young Franco-German Philharmonic), which he did, with the support of the OFAJ. Since 1986 he directs the Chœur d’Oratorio EuroFa

Justus von Websky is interested in all styles of music, so he has eagerly worked in co-operation with Franco-German Jazz ensembles. He conducts the most diverse works, from the oratorio to contemporary music.

« Avec un chœur d’amateurs, j’ai la possibilité de passer beaucoup plus de temps sur une partition, de travailler en profondeur, je peux créer mon propre style. Avec des professionnels – je l’ai fait pendant des années …… - je mets quinze jours à monter une œuvre. Avec les amateurs , il me faut six mois. Seulement le résultat est là. » from and interview of Justus von Websky in Télérama
