Mindaugas Zimkus (Tenor)

Born: November 19, 1970 - Kaunas, Lithuania

The Lithuanian tenor, Mindaugas Zimkus, studied from 1977 to 1984 at the Kaunas J. Naujalis art high school, piano with R.Galinytę-Kėvišienę; from 1984 to 1989 at J.Gruodis Kaunas College of Music in choral conducting studies with L.Januškienęl from 1989 to 1994 at LMA Kaunas Faculty he studied choral onducting with Professor P. Bingelį. From 1989 to 1998 he sang with the Kaunas State Choir. From 1998 to 2003 he studied at LAMT studied with Professor Virgil Noreikos, graduating with solo singing master's degree. From 2003 to 2005 he trained at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre (LNOBT) Opera Studio.

In 2004, Mindaugas Zimkus made his debut at the debut Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre the Count Almaviva in Rossini's opera The Barber of Seville. In 2002, at the Summer Academy Opera Island Bornholm in Denmark he prepared the role of Fernando in Mozart's opera Cosi fan tutte, played by Stockholm and Wolfego Opera Theaters. He perormed these and other roles at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theatre, Kaunas and Klaipeda Music Theatre, Vilnius Domino Theatre, and Vilnius Small Theatre.

Mindaugas Zimkus performs in various Lithuanian and foreign concert halls. His repertoire includes masses and oratorios by J.S. Bach, George Frideric Handel, W.A. Mozart, L.v. Beethoven. He also performs as a soloist modern music by Igor Stravinsky, C. Orff, S. Prokofjev, Benjamin Britten, V. Bartulis. He also sings Lieder cycles and performs chamber music, including F. Schubert'o Die schöne Müllerin and Schwanengesang, Robert Schumann’s Dichterliebe, and Benjamin Britten's Seven Sonnets of Michelangelo.
