History & Mission:

Warsaw University (Uniwersytetu Warszawskiego = UW) offers a series of concerts BACH 200 UW - 200 cantatas of Bach on the 200th anniversary of the University of Warsaw.
In 2016, Warsaw's alma mater will celebrate the 200th anniversary. Since 2007, UW takes Anniversary Decade, during which taking place at the University of Warsaw, conferences, lectures, exhibitions, concerts, events and publications emphasize the place and role of the University of Warsaw's intellectual environment. The following years are devoted to fundamental areas of modern civilization – Culture, Law, Information technology - or important for science and culture figures, such as Frederic Chopin, Charles Darwin and Marie Curie.
The interdisciplinary character of the University and its jubilee requires special musical framing. Such is the work of a preserved collection of 200 cantatas by J.S. Bach composed for the Thomaskirche in Leipzig. December 4, 2011, in the Auditorium Maximum UW launched so will cycle 200 Bach cantatas on the 200th anniversary of the University of Warsaw.
Concerts series - intimate and to a larger audience - will be spread over several years. University guided by the idea that the work of the Thomaskantor sounded performed by various ensembles and soloists - both those who are for the interpretation of Baroque music expertly come up with all the style and period, but also those for which - perhaps - an invitation to sing Bach will concealed fulfillment of dreams.
